Starting School (aside)

Dear C,

It's your questions I'll miss the most.

Those  s t r i n g s  of inflected words tossed at me from the moment you wake in the morning -

Most, I know the answer to (or can at least create an answer that is satisfactory to you);

Some... "I'm not sure. We'll have to look it up."

And you would quickly trot off to retrieve the iPad so we could find out something new.

But now you get to learn from someone else.

Someone who knows just how a little "q" is supposed to look - and has a special rhyme to help you remember too.

Someone who knows lots of stories and poems which she'll read aloud to you.

Someone who can gracefully catch those questions of yours (plus lots of others too).

And you will fall in love with her.

And tell me all about it when you come home.

And I will sit and listen and soak up these stories of everything brand-new.

promise to look after your things.

And not let our little dragon steal your treasures...

But maybe I will let him hold just one...

For he will miss you too.

Love,
Mummy

  5. How amazing I hope you show her this when she's a little older. It is a sweet love letter filled with so much hope. Kindergarten is such a great and fun time. I just wrote about remembering when our now grown kids were just starting out in school. Great memories
